[CALL FOR PROJECTS] Pioneers of Artificial Intelligence

The call for projects “Pioneers of AI” (September 11, 2025 – June 9, 2026), operated by Bpifrance with the Digital Programs Agency, supports R&D projects with high potential for technological disruption: projects must aim to implement a technological innovation with a transformative impact on the economy, ecological transition, and national sovereignty, demonstrated by the treatment of an identified use case.

For the agroecology and digital community, this call represents a unique opportunity to finance the acceleration of innovation in the sector and to strengthen partnerships between public research and industrial players. Many projects are already based on AI and the massive use of data.

Eligible public project leaders

Single-partner projects:

  • Entrepreneurial projects: public research organizations, universities, and engineering schools may lead an entrepreneurial project. Phase 1 must be based on a business creation support mechanism coordinated by the Digital Programs Agency.
  • Technology transfer projects: Research and higher education institutions may lead a project based on an industrial need as part of phase 1 (must include a support system for industrial partnerships coordinated by the Digital Programs Agency).

Collaborative projects:

Public institutions may participate in the consortium alongside an SME or mid-cap company leader.

A step-by-step process

Each project follows a step-by-step process: each phase gives rise to a new support contract and a selection based on the results and milestones achieved.

  • Phase 1: technical feasibility (€100–200k, 6–12 months)
  • Phase 2: development and demonstrator (€400–800k, 6–18 months)
  • Phase 3: application to a use case and industrialization (€3–8 million, 1–3 years)
