Project summary:

The Numaelog project focuses on the agroecological transition through the lens of the proliferation of environmental labels and standards within the supply chains. This environmental diversification of production requires both digital traceability of agricultural practices and an adaptation of logistical storage activities by cooperatives and on farms. This research analyzes the articulation between digital tools and logistics work in support of the agroecological transition by documenting the transformation of work practices on farms and broadly questioning the differentiated or even unequal deployment of these new activities (traceability and logistics) within the agricultural world. Conducted at the interdisciplinary laboratory of science, innovation, and society (lisis) at the Gustave Eiffel university starting in January 2025, this project is based on a qualitative study (interviews, observation, grey and specialized literature) with farmers in large-scale crops and cooperatives in the southwest and paris basin, and through interdisciplinary collaboration with Baptiste Kotras (sociologist, INRAE) and Marianne Cerf (ergonomist, INRAE).
