World FIRA 2025

From 04 Feb. 2025 to 06 Feb. 2025

Toulouse

The 9th edition of World FIRA 2025, the International Forum of Agricultural Autonomous Solutions, will take place from February 4 to 6, 2025, on the Agrobiopole campus in Auzeville near Toulouse. This edition will feature a partnership between the Agroecology and ICT Program, the Grand Défi Robotique Agricole (Grand Challenge for Agricultural Robotics), and INRAe for the scientific symposium on February 4.

World FIRA is a flagship event for innovation in agricultural robotics. This international event offers a unique opportunity to bring together agricultural robot manufacturers, farmers, tractor manufacturers, researchers, and students to explore the latest scientific and industrial advancements in autonomous and robotic solutions for agriculture.

The event will include numerous activities for all audiences to foster exchange: an exhibition area with international delegations, live demonstrations of agricultural robots in real-field conditions, the 6th scientific symposium, conferences, and networking opportunities. These demonstrations, exhibitions, and conferences will showcase the most advanced technologies for six sectors: vegetables, vineyards, orchards, large-scale crops, and for the first time, mixed farming and livestock.

Beyond existing hardware solutions, scientific research will take center stage. Agriculture faces a dual challenge: increasing production volumes and labor productivity to ensure food security while reducing environmental impact. Moreover, while agricultural robots are now capable of performing specific tasks with a certain level of autonomy, their performance remains limited in complex environments. This requires adaptation mechanisms that engage perception, interpretation, recognition, and decision-making functions.

Although recent scientific advances, particularly in artificial intelligence, have shown progress in environmental recognition, their application in complex agricultural domains, especially in an agroecological context, remains a significant challenge.

These issues will be at the core of the 6th scientific symposium, which is supported by the Agroecology and Digital Program. Following a call for projects that gathered initiatives from around the world, the selected presentations will be organized into the following three main sessions:

  • Session 1: Leveraging artificial intelligence tools in agricultural robotics.
  • Session 2: Using and sharing data for planning and decision-making.
  • Session 3: Innovative tools for robots tailored to new practices.
